Klondike Solitaire

I've been making some upgrades to my solitaire card games. I still have all the old games available if you want to play them. I've also got Freecell Klondike, Yukon, Golf Solitaire, Pyramid Solitaire, Freecell, and many others.

Let me know if you have any suggestion to help me improve my games.

Thanks for playing, :-)
Rick

Please, make the colors on the cards stand out more from the background. They are difficult to see even with my glasses. I have to work too hard to see the cards.

Reply from Rick: If you're not already, please try playing in Full Screen mode. That might help some.

    Thanks for letting me know,

    Where's the New Game button?

Reply from Rick: It's in the lower left corner of the game screen.

    Hope that helps, :-)

    Hi Rick,
Klonpro has you play against 9 Yukon people who contest you for the game. Each game consists of 6 hands where you win "nuggets" for Win, Place and Show. It starts off simple and gets progessivly harder. As YOU learn, so does the computer!

By the time you reach the highest level it is really difficult since you can only win 6 nuggets max, but you LOSE 8 when you don't finish in a W,P,S position. (you only win 6 for W, 3 for P, and 1 for Show. Since you are essentially playing yourself, you have to use a lot of strategy if you mean to win.

You can win 5 out of 6 and still lose in the end. It is very frustrating, but a lot of fun.

After 17 levels you win a bag of gold for every 100 nuggets you earn. To illustrate the difficulty: after over 20 years I still only have 23 bags of gold! Bob

    Reply from Rick: Hi Bob,

It sounds very interesting, but not like any solitaire game I've ever heard of. It kind of sounds like multi-player solitaire, although not exactly. They are neat concepts though. I'm not sure you're going to see anything like that from me soon, but I'll definitely keep some of those ideas in mind when I do games in the future.

    Thanks for the suggestions, :-)

i keep glitching out on the top pile the cards get in the way of the bottom ones. please fix it

Reply from Rick: I'm not sure I understand your problem. Can you go into a little more detail? It kind of sounds like you're having trouble playing with the Auto Complete. If that's the case, Please try the No Auto Complete version.

Please let me know if I am misunderstanding your suggestion,
    Rick

Not really a suggestion on YOUR games (which I LOVE!), but a request to see if you are interested in re-doing another version of Klondike. There is a man named Brooke Boering who lives in Aptos, CA. who made a version he calls "Klonpro". I have been playing it for over 20 years and am solidly hooked. He built it on a now defunct program that doesn't work on anything above XP (that I know about) and my newer systems won't hack it. (I keep an older PC just to play on.) Brooke has some innovations that are different from the rest, and you can REALLY get involved. Brooke's address: I'm not sure he is even alive now, since I haven't talked to him for several years. I believe he is even older than I !!! Thanks,

    Reply from Rick: Hi Robert,

If you have any suggestions of features from that version you think would be good in mine I would be happy to consider them in the next version.

    Thanks for the suggestion, :-)

    make card darker color

  • - 2013-05-28 08:28:57

got some bugs in this game - cards 'stick" particularly A's when moving to stacks. others as well - blink off and on and won't move

Reply from Rick: Try playing in Full Screen mode. That helps a lot. These bugs usually come up when you accidentally drag a card out of the play area. Full Screen mode usually helps.

    Hope that helps, :-)

Stop the auto feature. Leave cards alone . I want to move them myself. If they are moved auto my brain doesn't remember

Reply from Rick: Try my Klondike without autocomplete version.

why does the game quit when a King is next in play?

You cost me a game by automatically putting a card up.

Reply from Rick: If you are playing a game with auto complete on, you can always hit the 'Undo' button to return the card to where it was before the computer moved it. If you would like to play with that feature turned off, click the link below the game that says Click here to play without Auto Complete.

    Hope that helps,

I am enjoying your Klondike game. i especially like the face card graphics. As a recovering carpal tunnel sufferer, i do a bit tired of the drag and drop. I would like to see the cards move to the next available position with just a click, the way the aces do.

Looks like you are having fun with your game development. Good mental exercise!

Reply from Rick: You should be able to double click the cards to move them into place (at least in the suit piles).

    Hope that helps,
    Rick

Not a suggestion, but I found a major bug, and have a screen shot so that you can see it. BUT the bug is the screen flashes during game play, and the game uses double the cards played. The screen shot shows 6 of spades, 5 of diamonds, and the 4 of spades played twice. I can show this error in any of the games, and, and during regular game play. Operating System Windows 8 retail.

Reply from Rick: Wow... how do you get it to happen? Post your email (don't worry, I won't put it on the site). I'd like to talk over email to see what's going on.

    Thanks for your help, :-)

How can you tell if you do or do not have a winnable game?

Reply from Rick: Unfortunately you can't really tell until you're into the game. Basically if some of the small number cards (Ace, 2, 3) are low in the columns and a larger card of the same suit is above it, it can be very difficult to win. The problem is you don't know what the values of those cards are until you flip them over.

I'm not sure I'm being very helpful here. :-/

  • Stephanie - 2013-02-18 13:30:52

Don't limit it to winnable games! If I knew I was going to win every time I would quit playing. Just my opinion

Reply from Rick: Glad to hear your opinion Stephanie. If I do a version with only winnable games, I think I would branch it off on to a different page and make both versions available.

    Thanks again, :-)

  • - 2013-02-16 19:13:33

    Win more

Reply from Rick: I'm guessing you would like to win the game more often. I'm not exactly sure what I could do about that. Maybe try and limit the deal to winnable hands. I'd have to think about it.

    Thanks for the suggestion,
    Rick

    sigle card deal

Reply from Rick: I'm a little confused... it is a single card deal. I've been wanting to add a 3 card deal for a while but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Sometimes if I go to fast and click the mouse twice or right button it will hold the card meant for the upper tier and wont let go. But that is my fault not the game I thought you might like to know.

Reply from Rick: I've seen some weird stuff like that. In my experience it also has trouble if you drag a card off the flash window and release the mouse. Playing in 'Full Screen' mode usually helps some. I've been looking into the issue but it's been difficult to fix. If it happens I suggest refreshing the page to make the problem go away.

Reply from Rick: I don't have a login right now. It's something I've been thinking about for a while. I want to piggy back on a login system like OpenID, but it's something I've yet to take the time to figure out.
